Rebrand

Growth Factory Ventures

Growth Factory Ventures had a sharp point of view and a logo that didn't. I rebranded the firm around a single G built from the ideas it runs on: the window of opportunity, the DNA of growth and conviction.

Growth Factory Ventures G mark, built from a square and an arrow, shown on its construction grid

Growth Factory Ventures (GFV) is an early-stage venture capital firm and venture studio in Sacramento, California. It invests in founders and co-builds with them when its operators add real leverage. When Bubble8 joined GFV as its studio, Ali Mackani, who I'd worked with on many projects, looped me in on the rebrand. Somewhere between him talking and me listening, the idea showed up, and I doodled it on a Post-it. That almost never happens. This time I had clarity from day zero.

Challenge

GFV knew exactly who it was: a clear vision, mission, purpose, values and way of working, all built on conviction. The logo didn't get the memo. Three gears and a wordmark that looked more like stock art than a firm that engineers wins. This wasn't a refresh. There was nothing worth keeping.

Solution

A logo should be a visual reminder of what a company believes, so I built the G out of GFV's own principles. A square is the window of opportunity: signal, timing and clarity. An arrow is the DNA of growth: action that compounds. Put them together and you get the G, GFV's identity, and the conviction that comes from both. One compact mark that says "engineering wins" without a single gear.

Outcome

  • A new identity built on GFV's principles instead of stock art.

  • A G that works on its own, from the website header to a LinkedIn avatar.

  • A company-wide redesign now rolling out across GFV's website and socials, especially LinkedIn.

Day zero

Most logos take rounds. This one took a conversation and a Post-it. GFV already knew what it stood for, so my job was to listen closely enough to draw it.

Out with the gears

The old logo said “factory” literally and “growth” not at all. It wasn’t a redesign. It was a rebrand, starting from a blank page.

Three ideas, one G

The window of opportunity, the DNA of growth and conviction aren’t slogans at GFV. They’re how the firm decides what to back. So they became the mark itself. The square is the window: spot the signal, get the timing right. The arrow is growth: act, then compound. Put the arrow inside the window and it becomes a G. That’s the conviction part: seeing the opportunity and acting on it, in one shape.

Out in the world

The new identity is now rolling out across the whole company, from the website to LinkedIn.
